Piano (graded exams)

It is important to know whether it is suitable to play the piano for kids or not. There are some hints to you:

• Your kids tried to produce sounds with rhythmic patterns, not just producing noise

• Your kids tried to produce sounds in different pitches like an experiment

• Your kids have strong sense on both listening to music and singing.

Undoubtedly, music forms parts of our life. Learning music would be the best gift to a musician for the entire life! Music is like a language. It helps express ourselves, feeling others' emotions and communicate with others. If we can start learning music at the early stage of our life, music would probably one of our best friends accompanying us.

Many parents choose an instrument for their kids to learn, and find the classes the parent want. Why don't we just let the kids choose their own instrument for their life? By learning piano, they can switch to any other western instruments they want at any time. The piano and other western instrument share the same music theory and learning the piano might be the easiest move to a child.

Also, more and more kids study over 2-3 instruments during their school age in Hong Kong. If your kids learn the piano at the earlier stage, their flexibility would be more as they have more time to transit to another instrument. Of course, we do encourage kids to learn different musical instruments at the same time as the piano and other western musical instruments complement each other.
